Born in a railroad town

A National Park (Jasper AB)

Daughter of a railroad

fireman & engineer

Love for the power of a locomotive.

With that constant chugging rhythm and low down sound

best re-created on an accordion.

Throw in some twangy pedal

steel guitar, a western swing,

a cajun fiddle, a BIG bass man,

and a drummer with a love for the second line you are getting closer to the repertoire and sound mix of:

SAN ANTONIO TEXAS RIVERWALK

The way Debra Peters plays classic country, zydeco, and Tex-mex on her accordion - squeezing the bellows as easy as she breathes - it's clear that although Canada might be be where she was born, Austin, Texas is her home. A songwriter, singer, pianist, and accordion teacher, it's fair to call Peters an "Austin Original." Having shared the stage with some of the finest representatives of Texas music - Valerio Longoria, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Pinetop Perkins,& many, many, more - it's no surprise that Peters leads one of the best honky-tonk groups in town, The Love Saints. Weekly residents at the legendary dance hall, The Broken Spoke, Debra Peters & the Love Saints play the perfect mix of country-blues-western swing-roots rock-swamp pop to get your boots scootin' and your heart strings pulled. With accordion skills and sweet country twang, its no wonder Peters has earned a reputation as "The Squeezebox Chanteuse of the Lone Star State."
