Debra Peters performs a wide range of genres including country, blues, zydeco, cajun, Tex-Mex, western swing, and roots rock and has contributed to American classical music accordion orchestras.  Her versatility comes from decades as a musician and music lover. Debra is a significant figure in the music community. She is known for her contributions as a female bandleader in a male-dominated field. She has performed throughout Texas and internationally in countries like Japan, Mexico, France, and Holland. Debra has been an adjudicator for Texas Folklife’s Big Squeeze (10 years) and actively promotes accordion music through workshops and online platforms.

She has performed at the Historic Broken Spoke in South Austin for regular Honky Tonk Tuesdays over three decades. She has also appeared at numerous Texas Folklife events, including The Big Squeeze, National Accordion Association conventions in Dallas, and international performances in Japan, Mexico, France, and Holland. She performed at EXPO 86 in Vancouver as a lead singer with “The Yo-Dells.”

Debra contributes to the accordion community by judging competitions, hosting workshops, and promoting accordionists through her online platforms. She is dedicated to preserving and advancing traditional accordion music.
